Exploring... The Magnolia Market at The Silos (Mini Waco Road Trip Part 1)

By Lifeofpjern - January 25, 2018

As an avid fan of HGTV, one of my favorite shows is Fixer Upper. If you're one of the many fans that the show has, you already know about The Magnolia Market at The Silos and you're probably eager to check it out. On January 2nd, the first day of 2018 that Magnolia opened, me and my family went down to Waco to check it out.
When we got there, it was still pretty early so I was able to see the signs that they had on the light poles pointing you to their free parking in the back. If you are planning on visiting, follow those signs because surrounding buildings will charge a parking fee if you want to park in their parking lot. There's also a free trolley that can take you there among other nearby places, for more information on parking click here.
We entered through the back and the first thing you see are the food trucks and tables with the two 120-foot-tall Silos in the background. Unfortunately, since it was still early and freezing outside (~19ºF), none of the food trucks were open so I wasn't able to taste the food there.
We went straight to their bakery, Silos Baking Co., to try out their famous cupcakes. The three flavors we picked out were:

THE CHOCOLATIER
chocolate cake + chocolate buttercream icing

STRAWBERRIES 'N CREAM
strawberry cake + vanilla buttercream icing

NUTS & BOLTS
vanilla cake filled with pecans & walnuts + cream cheese icing

If you do plan on going to their bakery, the earlier you go the better. Why? Because in the morning there wasn't a line but when I passed by there later in the day there was a huge line that reached way outside the bakery.
After we ate our cupcakes, we went inside the Magnolia Market to see what they had inside. They sold everything from home goods to apparel, candles to sunflower seeds, tbh all kinds of things. We bought some things and headed outside to the lawn area but we quickly left due to the freezing weather. We plan on going back when the weather is warmer to really check it all out and explore it to the fullest.
