Day 5 of Thanksgiving - Thanksgiving Activities

By Lifeofpjern - November 21, 2017

Day 5 of the 7 Days of Thanksgiving is Activities.

One of the things of the Fall season has to be the activities, you get to enjoy doing activities with the change of season that bring in cool weather instead of the drastic heat that Summer provides. Below are my 7 Fall activities that are fun to do in the Fall, especially around Thanksgiving.

1. Hayrides
Hayrides are such a neat sightseeing ride. One of the many places that you can experience a Hayride in the Dallas area is at the Preston Trail Farms.

2. Football
As a Native Texan that lives in the Dallas metroplex, it's a Thanksgiving tradition to watch the Dallas Cowboys play on Thanksgiving Day. While some people go watch the game live at the AT&T Stadium, my family's tradition is to watch the game at home while eating our Thanksgiving lunch/dinner.

3. Bonfire
With the cool weather of the Fall season, it's always nice to warm up with a bonfire. Perfect time to roast some marshmallows and make some s'mores.

4. Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden transforms into a Fall Wonderland titled Autumn at the Arboretum which takes place during the Fall season.

5. Maze
There's several different types of mazes that open up during the Fall season, from Corn Mazes to Hay Mazes, but the Cattle Pen Maze is open year long at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

6. "Pumpkin" Theme Day
Pumpkin is iconic when it comes to Fall so what better way to enjoy the Fall than to make it a Pumpkin theme day. Go out and enjoy all things pumpkin. From pumpkin spice bread to pumpkin spice latte, from pumpkin seeds to a pumpkin face mask, the sky is the limit.

7. Volunteer
What better way to spend the Fall season, especially during Thanksgiving, than to volunteer. There's several places to go volunteer, helping out at a food drive that gives out cans and turkeys for Thanksgiving to a homeless shelter that tries to make Thanksgiving happen for the homeless. Here are some places in the Dallas area that you can volunteer: Mission Arlington, North Texas Food Bank, Operation Turkey, Salvation Army, and Grand Prairie United Charities.
